Exclusive Interview with the Yellow Boyz

Based in Atlanta, this Dirty South lyrical hip hop group gives a taste of that southern swang with that Yellow Boy Swag.  The Yellow Boyz consist of three MCs, Passda, Al P and Jeniside.  Childhood friends who grew up together in the "Northside" of the "A".  New York Seoul caught up with the group for this interview ...

How did the Yellow Boyz get started?  When did you all meet?

We all met in 8th grade, Autrey Mill middle school.  Since then we've all been friends connected through music.

When did you decide to work together as the Yellow Boyz?

We all worked as solo artists until 2010 and formed the group officially.

What was the most difficult part of getting started?

Getting started was actually fun, that's when we were grinding just to get our name out there.  Starting from the group up has its cons but looking back on it those were some of the best moments.

What were the biggest breaks breaking into the music industry?

Some of our biggest breaks were getting our song "Southern Swang" featuring our big homie Jackie Chain, who just dropped his "Bruce Lean" mixtape, played on our Atlanta radio station V-103.  AL P also battled on their station live on radio which was a good look for us.

Having performed with big names (including Soulja Boy, Method Man, Redman and B.o.B.), which performance was the biggest and most exciting?

Probably the Soulja Boy show because it was held in Northside Atlanta (where we are from) and we worked our asses off promoting that show.  You can of us performing that night, it was wild.

If Yellow Boyz could perform with another artist, which artist would that be?

We would love to do a show with Kanye....He would have some crazy lights n stage tricks.

How was your recent U.S. tour?

Our recent U.S. tour was awesome.  We got to travel through a lot of the US, from the East Coast to the Midwest to the West Coast.  It was cool meeting fans and also making new fans.  Linking up with our brothers Lyricks, Manifest, JL, Smokes, Dumbfoundead, Decipher, Dope Inc, is always good.

While on tour, did you have a favorite place you performed at?

L.A. K-Town was turnt up and Dallas suprised us.

Given the opportunity, where would the Yellow Boyz choose to perform next?

We are looking forward to doing our next show in Korea.

While in Korea, you performed "Oh Nuna You" at Superstar K.  The buzz was on.  Do the Yellow Boyz have plans to continue promoting in Korea?

We are definitely still promoting out in Korea.  We are working on "Gyopo Mixtape" pt.2.

So far, what has been the best experience for the Yellow Boyz?

The best experience has been all of it.  The start of the Yellow Boyz, building from the ground up, getting our local community behind us, traveling everywhere, and making this beautiful music.

What are your future goals?  Where are the Yellow Boyz heading to next?

Keep working until we at the top, then start working even harder. YBZ!
